As a community-driven model, CLTs make housing affordable, attainable and sustainable. This model creates access to housing for all.
CLTs create affordable housing while still allowing low-income residents to build equity as home owners. Moreover, because the CLT retains ownership of the land beneath the home, this housing remains permanently affordable, even as the original beneficiaries of an affordable home sell and move on.
