Burkhard Mausberg
Burkhard Mausberg is the President of Small Change Fund, Canada’s only charitable crowdfunder, focusing on the environment, poverty and Indigenous Reconciliation. He was previously the founding CEO of the Greenbelt Foundation and the Greenbelt Fund, making the Greenbelt Ontario’s most popular and successful environmental initiative in its time.
A leader in Ontario’s environmental/food sector, Burkhard has worked for charities and non-profit groups for 35 years. Before leading the Greenbelt Foundation, he directed the programs of the Ivey Foundation. Burkhard also founded and led Environmental Defence Canada and was Executive Director of Great Lakes United, which he transformed into essential forces for change.
Burkhard cut his teeth at Pollution Probe in the 1980s, has served on many NGO boards, and writes widely on vital issues in diverse settings. He wrote the quintessential and award-winning book about Ontario’s Greenbelt, published by Barlow Books. Mausberg studied environmental science at the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto, where he also taught for eight years. He lives in Toronto and spends as much time as possible at his cabin in the woods.
